MindFlash Privacy: Zero Account, Zero Cloud
MindFlash is an offline flashcard app that does not require an account, does not sync to a cloud, and does not collect behavioral analytics. This page describes what stays on your device and what may leave it.
What stays on your device
• Your decks, cards, and notes.
• Your review history and spaced-repetition scheduling state.
• Your streak counter and retention curve.
• The on-device AI tutor model (~1.5-3.5 GB depending on tier) once downloaded.
• Your tutor questions and the tutor's responses.
• Your app preferences and settings.
All of this is stored locally in MindFlash's app data directory. When you uninstall the app, this data is removed with it.
What MindFlash does not collect
• No account, no email, no name, no profile.
• No behavioral analytics on what you study.
• No cloud sync of your decks to a server we control.
• No social features, no sharing, no public profile.
• No card text, no tutor questions, no review results uploaded to MindFlash.
The on-device AI tutor
The AI tutor is a local model that runs entirely on your phone. When you ask "Explain this card" or "Why is this wrong?", the question and the card text are processed by the local model. Nothing is sent to a remote AI service.
This is structurally different from cloud AI tutors: there is no server that sees your questions, no log of what you struggle with, no profile being built from your study patterns.
What may leave your device
• Anonymous crash diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics (Google). You can disable this in Android system settings.
• Optional technical data from third-party service providers, governed by their own privacy policies. MindFlash does not use study content to personalize anything.
• The AI tutor model (~1.5-3.5 GB depending on tier), downloaded once from a public model host.
Why "no account" is a feature
The most popular AI study tool requires a Google account. Every study session feeds the profile of the company that owns the AI. MindFlash's no-account architecture is not a limitation — it is the only way to deliver the privacy promise:
• No password resets.
• No data export requests.
• No breach reporting.
• No behavioral analytics.
• No third-party data sharing.
Your controls
• The AI tutor download is opt-in. The app is fully functional without it.
• Crashlytics can be disabled in Android system settings.
• The app can be uninstalled at any time, removing all local data.
